Surf in Costa Rica

1 - Mal Pais: Miles of beautiful uncrowded beaches with powerful beach, reef and point breaks. Very consistant.

2 - Manzanillo.

3 - Playa Coyote.

4 - Nosara: Beach break, with lefts and rights. About a 4 and a half hour journey from San José to Nicoya and from there to Nosara.

5 - Playa Negra: a right point break with very fast waves, 350km from San José.

6 - Avellanas: Good beach break, featuring very hollow rights and lefts.

7 - Langosta: a right and left point break that curls off the mouth of a small river.

8 - Playa Tamarindo: Here you will find three main points: Pico Pequeño, a rocky point in front of the Hotel Tamarindo, El Estero, an excellent river mouth break, Henry's Point, another rocky point break

9 - Playa Grande: Beach break located about 20 minutes north of Tamarindo. Accessible by road.

10 - Playa Naranjo: Also known as Piedra Bruja (Witch's Rock) one of the best breaks in the country, with very strong off-shore winds from December to March. Located in the Santa Rosa National Park.

11 - Potrero Grande: A right point break with very hollow waves.
