How to get to Hotel The Place in Mal Pais ?

Transfer from San Jose:

If you need to book a night in San Jose on your arrival or departure day, or if you just need a transfer with an air-conditioned minibus to our Hotel, make your reservation in advance with us.
The drive from San Jose to Mal Pais is about 5 hours including a 45 min. ferry ride.

Driving with a car:
Driving from San Jose Airport to Puntarenas on the new freeway from Santa Ana takes approx. 1 1/2 hrs. In Puntarenas you board the car ferry ( Tel: 2661-2084) to Paquera for a 1 1/2 hour ride across the Gulf of Nicoya. Try to take Ferry Tambor 2 which is the big Ferry and you will have a better chance to board the Ferry at once. Once in Paquera it is around 50 min to get to Mal Pais.

By Air:
Mal Pais is 40 min away from the domestic airport of Tambor that connects you to San Jose International Airport in just 25 min. Fly direct from San José to Tambor then take a taxi to Mal Pais. Book your flight online with:
