How to get there?

By Car
Driving from the San Jose Airport to Puntarenas takes approx. 2 hours. In Puntarenas you board the car ferry to Paquera for a 1 1/2 hour ride across the Gulf of Nicoya. Once in Paquera it is only 65 minutes to get to Mal Pais.

By Air
Mal Pais is 40 minutes away from the domestic airport of Tambor that connects you to San Jose International Airport in just 35 minutes. Fly direct from San José to Tambor then take a taxi to Mal Pais. Make reservations prior to your arrival:
